[NEWS] DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY: Aging of the Ovary Linked to PTEN Pathway
On page 611 of this week’s issue of Science, researchers report that in the absence of a gene called Pten, the egg-containing follicles of mice were activated rapidly at an early age, thus causing depletion of the animals’ eggs much sooner than is normal–a situation similar to that of premature ovarian failure in humans.
